In this paper Mr. Rodvold addresses the challenges of using neural networks in critical applications and describes an approach to development and validation. This paper also provides a good reference list regarding verification and validation of neural networks. The information provided could be very useful to a medical device manufacturer considering the use of neural nets for software in a device.
