Microbatteries in implantable devices are allowing earlier detection along with closer and more regular observation of the patient. A major benefit would be the real-time monitoring of the patient in areas not previously possible due to size, comfort levels, and the complexity of surgery. Much work is still to be had, but developers are well on their way to equipping these miniature batteries with the power needed to carry out their important jobs.
